Tubing, Canoeing or Kayaking on the Saco River

However you choose to float the Saco River, you can do it from the Beach Camping Area! Tube, kayak, and canoe rentals are available at the campground. Longer canoe and kayak trips can also be reserved through the front office with shuttle pick-up.

Saco River Tubing

Beach Camping Area offers the most river tubing options on the Saco River. Choose a one, three, or four mile float. Full shuttle service is available. One and three mile floats start at the campground, and four mile floats end there.

Canoe or Kayak Trips

Beach Camping Area offers a four-mile and seven-mile paddle trips, both ending at the campground. You’ll experience small rapids, and sandy beaches along the way. Shuttle pick-up is included.

Current Water Levels


The Saco River is a natural resource, and uncontrolled. Water levels change daily. There is inherent risk in going out onto the river. Planning for your trip and listening to weather and water forecasts are crucial for your safety.



100 – 400 CFS: Very slow moving water (no rapids) 1. mile trip is best float. Covered Bridge 3 Mile Float is rocky at the end. A true lazy river.

400 – 1000 CFS: Gentle current good conditions for Redstone Rapids (3 mile trip) Everyone should know how to swim.

1000 – 1500 CFS: Quicker water. Ages 12 and up. Everyone must be a good swimmer.
1500 – 2000 CFS:
 Adults only Everyone must be a good swimmer.
